Restaurants in Adelaide
Adelaide has a wide range of restaurants, and meals often come in cheaper than those offered by other state capitals. Restaurants have been grouped into three different pricing categories:
Expensive (over A$50)
Moderate (A$20 to A$49)
Cheap (up to A$20)
These prices are for a three-course meal for one with a half bottle of house wine or equivalent. They include tax, and whilst not the standard in Australia, tipping is often done in recognition of good service (10% or more).
Jolleys Boathouse Restaurant
Situated on the banks of the Torrens River, Jolleys comes with views of ducks and black swans, and specialises in contemporary Australian cuisine such as grilled ocean trout with a cauliflower purée and baby clams.
Mesa Lunga
For those wanting a taste of the Mediterranean, this restaurant offers Spanish- and Italian-inspired meals. There are also some wonderful tapas available from the bar.
The Grange
South Australia's most famous chef, Cheong Lew, creates an innovative, Western/Asian-fusion menu based on seafood.
Amalfi Pizzeria Ristorante
If you like pizza then you'll love the authentic Italian versions from this busy little eatery. The pastas and special fish dishes are good too - and reasonably priced.
Matsuri
Kimono-clad staff serves up excellent sushi and a variety of other traditional Japanese offerings from tempura and noodles to hot pot dishes. It's one of the best Japanese restaurants in Australia and highly recommended.
The Manse
Set in a beautiful 1884 Victorian Mansion, The Manse has five dining areas, open fire places and a gracious outdoor terrace. The menu is French-inspired.
Ying Chow
Popular with night owls and those looking for a bargain, this classic Chinese restaurant offers a tasty if rather noisy dinning experience.
