Airtran has recently announced significant expansion of its domestic services from Milwaukee, while the airport itself has launched a new 'real-time' parking availability page on its main website - in addition to a new mobile-enhanced website (http://mobile.mitchellairport.com) aimed at hand-held device users.

International Arrivals is situated a short distance from the main terminal.

Driving Directions

The airport is located off its own junction 8km (5 miles) south of Milwaukee and 112km (70 miles) north of Chicago, on exit 119 off I-94. From Chicago, take I-94 north to the airport exit.

Car Parking

Daily (long-term) and hourly (short-term) parking is available in the airport’s main multi-storey car park, which is connected to the terminal by walkways with travelators. Other parking options include a surface car park located immediately south of the parking garage, close to the terminal and two remote car parks (Remote Lots A and B), although during non-peak periods, only one of these two lots may be open. There are free shuttle services to/from the remote car parks to the terminal building, running daily 24 hours. The first half-hour of parking in any airport car park is free of charge. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are all represented.

Public Transport

Shuttle: Go Airport Connection (tel: (800) 236 5450) provides shared shuttle van services to city centre hotels and business locations, available daily 24 hours all year round.
Bus: Badger Coaches (tel: (414) 276 7490) runs to Johnson Creek and Madison. Public buses operated by the Milwaukee County Transit System (tel: (414) 344 6711) serve Milwaukee County; bus 80 runs to Sixth Street in downtown Milwaukee (journey time - 25 minutes). Coach USA (tel: (262) 542 8861) operates a service to Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha Counties, along with Chicago O'Hare and Midway airports. Ground transportation information and timetables are available at the information desk. All services leave from the large traffic island outside Arrivals; buses use the south end, while shuttles and taxis use the centre and north end. A coordinator is on hand to provide assistance, the booth is located in the centre of the island.

A visitor information desk (tel: (414) 747 4808) is located in Arrivals and Travelers Aid (tel: (414) 747 5245) can be found on the upper level of the terminal.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: ATMs are located in the main terminal and near the entrance to concourse E.
Eating and drinking: There is a restaurant and a wide range of snack bars, cafes and bars.
Shopping: There are shops located throughout the terminal and concourses, including a sweet shop, Harley-Davidson store, newsagent and gift shop, and a second-hand book store.
Luggage: Trolleys are available.
Other facilities: A family care room with baby change facilities and children’s play area is located on the south end of the airport mall, near the entrance to the walkway link to the main car park.

Conference and Business Facilities

Business facilities are located at the north end of the upper level precinct near the entrance to Concourse C and include phone and fax facilities. Parcel delivery services and postage stamp machines can be found at the same location. Conference rooms are available for hire (tel: (414) 747 5300). Midwest Express Airlines and Northwest Airlines have airline clubs at the airport, offering conference rooms, computers, Internet access and fax facilities to members. Paid-for Wifi access is available throughout the terminal. Conference facilities are also available at nearby hotels including Clarion Hotel Airport (tel: (414) 481 2400; www.clarionmilwaukee.com) and the Best Western Milwaukee Airport (tel: (414) 769 2100; www.bwmilwaukee.com).

Facilities for Disabled Travellers

Airport facilities are wheelchair-accessible and TDD telephones are located throughout. Disabled toilets are available in the family care room (see above, Airport Facilities). Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. Skycap porters are available to assist with wheelchairs. Avis, Budget and Hertz offer hand-controlled hire cars (reservations should be made several days in advance). There are disabled parking spaces in the main car park and assistance can be provided; walkways with travelators connect to the terminal building on level 3 and lifts provide access from all levels of the parking garage. Disabled parking is also available in the surface car park. Passengers should use the white courtesy telephones in the car parks and the terminal buildings.

There are no hotels in the terminal, but several are located within close proximity, including the Clarion Hotel Airport (tel: (414) 481 2400; www.clarionmilwaukee.com)), the Hampton Inn Milwaukee Airport (tel: (414) 762 4240; www.hamptoninn.com) and the Best Western Milwaukee Airport (tel: (414) 769 2100; www.bwmilwaukee.com). Numerous other hotels in the surrounding area offer free shuttle services to and from the terminal.
