The airport is situated 17km (10.5 miles) east of Panama City.

The airport is accessible using the South Corridor Toll Highway or via Via Tocumen. From the center of Panama City, it takes less than 20 minutes via the Corridor, whereas due to heavy traffic, it can take an hour or more using Via Tocumen.

There is open-air parking in front of the main terminal on the arrivals level.

Operators include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, National and Thrifty. All have facilities in Arrivals after exiting the customs area.

Bus: Several public bus routes link the airport and downtown Panama.
Taxi: Regulated taxis are available with pre-purchased fare.
Shuttle: Some hotels offer shuttle service.

There is an information help desk in Arrivals, offering bureaux de change facilities, hotel booking and tourist information. 

Money and communications: There is an ATM and a bank in Departures. Cable & Wireless operates a telephone/fax facility and public telephones can be found throughout the terminal. Bureaux de change facilities are available at the information desk in Arrivals. 
Eating and drinking: Restaurants, coffee shops and snack outlets are available at the airport.
Shopping: There are a variety of shops in Departures. Duty-free shopping is available in both Departures and Arrivals.
Luggage: Porters are available. Once departing the customs area, baggage carts cannot be taken out of the customs area. 
Other facilities: These include a clinic and shower rooms.

There are no business facilities at the airport, but there is a VIP lounge, Tocumen Royal Saloon (tel: 238 2600), available for arriving and departing visitors. Meeting and conference facilities are available at the Sheraton (formerly the Hotel Caesar Park) (tel: 305 5100; www.starwoodhotels.com), 15 minutes from the airport in San Francisco.

The airport is fully accessible to disabled passengers.

The Riande Airport Hotel (tel: 290 3333; www.hotelesriande.com) is located next to the airport. Major hotels readily accessible using the South Corridor include the Sheraton (formerly the Hotel Caesar Park) (tel: 305 5100; www.starwoodhotels.com) and the Courtyard Panama Real Hotel (tel: 301 0101; www.marriott.com), both 15 minutes from the airport in San Francisco.
