Location
The airport is situated 16km (10 miles) southeast of Durham and 16km (10 miles) northwest of Raleigh.
Airport News
The Terminal C expansion project is scheduled for completion in 2010. It will make Terminal C the primary terminal at the airport, more than doubling it in size.
Transfer Between Terminals
Free buses run between the two terminals and the Park & Ride car parks.
Driving Directions
The airport is located at the mid-point between Raleigh and Durham, off I-40 and Hwy-7. From the I-40 take exit 284B (Airport Blvd) or 285 (Aviation Parkway). From Hwy-70 take exit 293 and follow signs for the airport.
Car Parking
There are hourly and daily parking garages and two Park & Ride car parks (tel: (919) 840 2140) with courtesy bus services to the terminals. A further two Park & Ride lots are used for overflow parking. Travellers are advised to follow the electronic signs informing drivers of the nearest available car park. The RDU Parking Department offers recorded information on parking (tel: (919) 840 2140).
Car Hire
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are all located at the airport; shuttles transport passengers from outside Arrivals to the pick-up areas.
Public Transport
Bus: Triangle Transit Authority (tel: (919) 549 9999; www.ridetta.org) connects all TTA Regional Bus Routes with the airport. The Airport Shuttle meets TTA Regional Buses at the TTA Bus Center in Research Triangle Park.
Shuttle: There are plenty of shuttles available to various destinations in the area. Check the airport's website for further information.
Taxi: Taxis are available on the lower level outside baggage reclaim from RDU Airport Taxi Service (tel: (919) 840 7277).
Information and Help Desks
Information desks (tel: (919) 840 2123) are located in the baggage reclaim area of both terminals. Visitor services representatives and volunteers are available throughout the day to answer passenger and visitor questions. Tourist information is also available at the information desks.
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: Bureaux de change, ATMs, telephones and Wi-Fi Internet access are all available in the terminal.
Eating and drinking: There are numerous restaurants and cafes at the airport.
Shopping: The airport has a variety of shops in both terminals.
Luggage: A lost property service is available from the RDU Airport Authority Police Department office (tel: (919) 840 7550).
Other facilities: These include an interfaith chapel, an express spa, shoe shine and family restrooms with infant changing facilities.
Conference and Business Facilities
Business services, including conference room hire, can be arranged through Travelex (tel: (919) 840 0366). Fax, photocopying services and Internet access are available in the RDU Business Centres in both terminals.
Facilities for Disabled Travellers
All toilets, car parks and shuttles are wheelchair-accessible, with spaces reserved in all car parks. The terminal is fully accessible, with lifts connecting all areas. TDD telephones are available throughout each terminal. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
