The airport is located approx. 4 km (2.5 miles) to the southeast of the city centre.
Airport News
Construction of an entirely new US$2 billion international airport to the east of the current airport started in 2004 and is scheduled for completion in 2015, with initial opening in 2011. During the construction period, the current airport is being expanded and refurbished at a cost of US$140 million.
Transfer Between Terminals
The premium and regular terminals are adjacent to one another and within a short walking distance.
Driving Directions
From the city centre, follow the Al Matar Street towards the southeast and follow the signs to the airport. Alternatively, drive further west on Ras Abu Abboud Street and follow signs to the airport.
Car Parking
The airport has 1250 parking spaces outside the terminals. The covered parking facility has been designed to protect vehicles from the heat.
Car Hire
Car hire companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Mustafawi, Prestige, Sixt and Thrifty.
Public Transport
Shuttle: Numerous hotels offer shuttle services to and from the airport - they have desks in the arrivals area.
Taxi: Doha's orange and white metered taxis are available just outside the airport. A limousine service is also available.

There are information desks in both terminals.
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: Qatar National Bank currently operates ATMs in both the departures and arrivals terminals, as well as currency exchange services in both terminals. There is a post office in the departures building. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available in two of the airport's first class and business class lounges.
Eating and drinking: There are plenty of outlets selling buffet foods, fresh ground coffee, fast foods, snacks and ice creams at the airport. In the departure area there are several cafes. In the arrivals hall there is a Costa Coffee café.
Shopping: There are several shops at the airport. The duty-free shops are huge and well stocked, selling cosmetics, toiletries, electronics, gift items, souvenirs and much else.
Luggage: Lost luggage inquiries should be directed to the information desk or your airline.
Other facilities: A medical clinic with an emergency trauma and cardio-treatment room is available at the airport. A mosque for men only is located in arrivals and a mosque for both men and women is located in departures. There are smoking rooms in the departure and transit areas.
Conference and Business Facilities
Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access is available at Qatar Airways first and business class lounges, and at the Oryx lounge for first and business class passengers travelling on other airlines or passengers availing of Al Maha services. Contact the respective lounge reception for more details.
Facilities for Disabled Travellers
There are toilets for wheelchair users and designated parking spaces for disabled people at the airport.

There are no hotels on the airport site, but a wide range of accommodation is available in the nearby city centre.
