American Express is widely accepted whereas MasterCard has more limited use.

These are easy to cash, if in US dollars, at most shops and hotels.

Mon-Fri 0900-1500.

There are no restrictions on the import or export of local or foreign currency.

Currency exchange: 

Exchange facilities are available at the airport and through trade banks. ATMs are located at the banking branches of the Amerika Samoa Bank and the Bank of Hawaii.

American Samoa duty free

The following items may be imported into American Samoa without incurring customs duty:

• 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 454g of tobacco.
• One US gallon or five bottles of alcohol.
• A reasonable amount of perfume.
