Primary health services can be obtained from the three private health clinics, where registered nurses provide care for minor emergencies. Family doctors hold clinics twice weekly. Secondary health care can be found at the small hospital located in The Valley. Minor emergency treatment is usually free for UK citizens with proof of UK residence, though you will be expected to pay for drugs. Health insurance is recommended as costs for other categories of treatment are high.

Food and drink:

Mains water is normally chlorinated and, whilst relatively safe, may cause mild abdominal upsets. Bottled water is readily available and is advised. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products (all imported) are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally considered safe to eat.

Other risks:

Hepatitis B and dengue fever occur.
