Shopping in Antwerp
Pedestrianised Meir (pronounced My-er) is the main shopping street in Antwerp, lined with national and international stores. For more individual shopping, browse the alleyways of the Historic Centre and try Kloosterstraat for bric à brac and antiques.
Antwerp is famous for its fashion district, De Modewijk, which can be found on and around Kammenstraat and Nationalestraat (don't miss Schutterhofstraat).
The most famous and biggest diamond shop in town is DiamondLand on Appelmansstraat where tours and cutting demonstrations are part of the sales spiel.
The Sunday morning Vogelmarket on Theaterplein is good for a slice of local life.
The hippest shop in town is Fish & Chips at 36-8 Kammenstraat, three floors of new, second-hand and retro/vintage urban clothing, bikes, oddball gadgets, alternative art, food and a bar.
Shops in Antwerp normally open Monday to Saturday 0900/1000-1800/1830. The main exceptions are Kloosterstraat and Hoogstraat where many shops open on Sunday.
