Visitors to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at Cape Canaveral in Florida find a mix of space-age technology and nature. The attraction is primarily known as the home of the Space Shuttle, where spectacular launches can be viewed from a safe distance. The centre has been pioneering space exploration since the success of the Apollo lunar programme in the late 1960s. Visitors can also tour the Apollo/Saturn Visitor Center to see an actual Saturn V moon rocket, which stands a staggering 111m (363ft) high, and experience Astronout Encounter, an interactive show hosted by real astronauts.
