Closest Hotels to Kremlin (Moskovksy Kreml):
The Kremlin (literally ‘fortified town’) is a walled fortress dating back to the founding of Moscow in 1147, when it was erected above the Neglina and Moskva rivers. From 1276 to 1712, it was the seat of government for the grand princes and tsars of Russia, and from 1917 onwards it has been the seat of power for the Communist government. The heart of the Kremlin centres around Cathedral Square, which is surrounded by several important churches, including the Cathedral of the Assumption, the Cathedral of the Archangel and the Cathedral of the Annunciation. The redbrick walls and towers house many other historic sights, including the Armoury Museum, the State Diamond Fund, the Patriarch’s Palace, the Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell.
