Born Joannes Christosomos Wolfgang Theophulis Mozart to Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart on January 27 1756, Mozart is one of the most famous musicians of all times. The musical genius was born in Getreidegasse 9 in Salzburg, known today as Mozarts Geburtshaus (Mozart’s Birthplace), where the family lived from 1747 until 1773 when the family moved to a house in Makartplatz which is known today as Mozart Wohnhaus (Mozart’s Residence), where they remained until 1787. Both houses are now popular museums. Most of Mozart’s Residence was destroyed by a bomb in 1944; the building has however been restored to its original glory by the Mozarteum Foundation.
