With its Classical façade gracing the northern side of London’s Trafalgar Square, the UK’s National Gallery possesses one of the world’s greatest collections of Western paintings. On display are around 2300 pictures covering every European school of painting from the 13th to the 19th century. Paintings by English masters include Constable’s ‘The Haywain’ and Gainsborough’s ‘The Watering Place’. There are regular exhibitions at the National Gallery, ranging from displays of schoolchildren’s artwork inspired by Hogarth’s painting ‘The Graham Children’, to an exhibition of 19th-century German painting.
