Neasden Temple Guide

The exotic sight of the Neasden Shri Swaminarayan Temple sits alongside suburban houses in Neasden in northwest London. The limestone Hindu temple was inspired by Lord Swaminarayan, an 18th century Indian guru who walked barefoot across the length of India raising awareness about the plight of the country’s poor and downtrodden people. It was built using an estimated 2,000 tons of Italian marble and 3,000 tonnes of Bulgarian limestone which had first been shipped to India where 1,000 local craftsmen volunteered their skills to sculpt the elaborate structure that now stands in West London.
Air: Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport and London City Airport. Rail: Neasden Station. Road: Bus: Public services. Car: B453.
