Attraction Information
Bantry House
Overlooking Bantry Bay in the south west of Ireland, Bantry House is a spectacular stately home that's been open to the public since 1946. Originally called Blackrock, the house was built in the 17th century as the ancestral home of the Earls of Bantry and is still lived in today by their descendants. The house was extended several times during the 18th century and gradually acquired an extensive collection of tapestries, paintings, furniture and artefacts that had been collected during their travels all over the world. Today, Bantry House consists of approximately 40 hectares (100 acres) of land of which approximately half is landscaped gardens and accessible woodland. Parts of the house can be rented out for weddings and private functions.
