The Pyramids at Giza are among the best-known ancient monuments in the world and the only one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world still standing. Of the three pyramids, the Pyramid of Chephren, which is sometimes known as the Second Pyramid, is the most famous due to its imposing size, with its base once covering an area of 216 sq metres (2325 sq ft). The famous Sphinx stands in front of the Great Pyramid, with the body of a lion joined to the head of a man. There is a Sound and Light show every night at Giza which adds to the atmosphere surrounding these mysterious ancient sights.
