Times Square Guide

Located just north of 42nd Street, Times Square has long been associated with theatre and nightlife and all the excitement and glitz of New York City. There is no better way to discover the Big Apple than by going to see a show in a Broadway theatre, located just off Times Square; the area is home to over 50 theatres, around 30 hotels, cinemas, shops, restaurants and bars. Often referred to as the ‘Crossroads of the World’, the city’s theatre district is alight with neon signs and giant TV screens. Always buzzing with energy, it is an ideal place to experience the atmosphere of life on New York’s busy streets. Attracting over 30 million tourists every year, Times Square can be a daunting experience to first time visitors due to the constant stream of traffic and huge crowds. The square is a popular place to spend New Year’s Eve when over half a million people gather to join in the festivities.
Air: New York John F Kennedy International Airport, New York LaGuardia Airport or Newark International Airport. Rail: Underground: 15 subway lines go to Times Square; Amtrak and the Long Island Rail Road companies have services to Penn Station. Road: Bus: Public services.
