One of the busiest airports in Australia, Brisbane Airport is a key gateway to Queensland’s capital and popular Gold Coast region. Our Brisbane Airport Guide offers a wealth of information, including contact details, airport facilities and transport options.

Airport news: 

The new Airport Link road is due to open in mid-2012, connecting the city's Inner Ring Road with Brisbane Airport. Construction of a second parallel runway is scheduled to start in mid-2018.

Transfer between terminals: 

The Domestic and International Terminals are 2km (1.2 miles) apart, and are linked by the Airtrain, which is free to Virgin Australia passengers and A$5 for others. The T-Bus also offers transfers (at a cost of A$5 to all passengers); taxis are also available.

Driving directions: 

Brisbane Airport is located on Airport Drive, with direct links off the Gateway Motorway (Exit 108) and East West Arterial Road.

Public Transport

Public transport rail: 

Rail: The Airtrain (tel: (07) 3216 3308; www.airtrain.com.au) provides services to Brisbane Central Station (journey time: 22 minutes; fare: A$15.50) and to the Gold Coast (journey time: 90 minutes; fare: A$30). Airtrain stations are located directly outside the Domestic and International Terminals.

Public transport road: 

Bus: Airport buses are available from both terminals to specified stops in Brisbane (journey time: approx. 30 minutes: fare: A$38 return), the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. For further information, contact Coachtrans (tel: (07) 3358 9700;

Taxi: Taxis companies operating at Brisbane Airport include Black & White Cabs (tel: 133 322; www.blackandwhitecabs.com.au) and Yellow Cabs (tel: 131 924; www.yellowcab.com.au). There’s a taxi rank on the terminal road outside the Domestic Terminal and one outside Arrivals (level 2) at the International Terminal. Taxi fares to central Brisbane start at around A$30 and the journey time is generally 25-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Terminal facilities

Money: 

The International Terminal has bureaux de change and ATMs on levels 2, 3 and 4. The Domestic Terminal has bureaux de change facilities on level 2.

Communication: 

Payphones are situated throughout both terminals. Internet access is available.

Food: 

There are plenty of cafés and bars at Brisbane Airport. Options in the International Terminal include a pizza outlet, bakeries and a pub. In the Domestic Terminal, eateries include snack bars and cafés.

Shopping: 

A large selection of fashion and gift shops, as well as duty-free shopping options, is available on levels 3 and 4 of the International Terminal. There is a newsagent and a surf clothing shop in the Domestic Terminal. A free shuttle service connects to the Airport Village shopping precinct, which offers further retail options.

Luggage: 

Lost property services are situated in both terminals. For lost items in the International Terminal visit the information desk on level 2 (tel: (07) 3406 3190); or for items lost in the Domestic Terminal contact airline terminal administration (tel: (07) 3867 3264 or 3114 8150 or 3305 9233). Left-luggage lockers are available at the car park entrance in the International Terminal only.

Other: 

There is a first aid room, baby change rooms and a multifaith prayer room in the International Terminal. Showers are available in both terminals.

Airport facilities

Conference and business: 

Fax, photocopy and internet facilities are available in the small business centre in the main hall. Limited conference facilities (tel: (07) 3406 3066) are available in the International Terminal. A number of meeting rooms, with a capacity of up to 100 delegates, are offered at the Novotel Brisbane Airport Hotel (tel: (07) 3175 3100; www.novotel.com). Qantas Club lounges are located in both terminals, and a Virgin Australia lounge can be found in the Domestic Terminal.

Disabled facilities: 

There is ramped and lift access to all floors, wheelchair-accessible toilets, and accessible shops and dining areas in the International Terminal. Disabled car parking spaces and wheelchair set-downs are also available.

Car parking: 

Short- and long-term parking (tel: (07) 3406 3088) is available at the International and Domestic Terminals. Valet parking is also available at the Domestic Terminal.

Car rental: 

Car hire companies at Brisbane Airport include: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Redspot, Thrifty and several local operators. Offices for these providers are located on level 2 of the International Terminal and the ground floor of the Domestic Terminal.

Airport hotels

There is only one hotel at the airport: the recently-opened Novotel Brisbane Airport Hotel, which is a short distance from the terminals; but there is a large range of hotels in Brisbane itself. The Visitor Information Centres (on level 2 of the International Terminal and level 1 of the Domestic Terminal) can provide information on accommodation.

Airport Motel
Type: Moderate

Located conveniently for the city's cruise terminal and ferry transport into the city centre, the Airport Motel also offers free transport to/from the airport for two people. Hotel facilities include a swimming pool and free overnight parking.

Comfort Inn Airport Admiralty Motel

The Comfort Inn Airport Admiralty Motel is located 6km (4 miles) from Brisbane Airport and has function rooms, an on-site restaurant and an outdoor pool. The hotel offers free parking for guests.

The new Novotel Brisbane Airport Hotel is located in the Airport Village, and operates a paid-for shuttle service to and from the terminals. Facilities include a dedicated conference centre, rooftop pool, and a restaurant and bar.

Soon to be rebranded as an Ibis Budget hotel, the 93-room Hotel Formule 1 Brisbane Airport is located 5km (3 miles) from the airport and offers complimentary parking and a 24-hour self check-in facility.
