Cairns Events

The Cairns Show is three days of fun-packed entertainment as well as a showcase for local businesses. It is the largest regional show in Australia and, although historically its themes were agricultural, pastoral and mining, it has now expanded to include a variety of entertainment. The main arena plays host to extreme sports displays, fireworks and the Queensland pole climbing competition as well as the wood chopping championships. The Heritage Park has displays of living history, a working blacksmith, a chainsaw sculpture, sideshows and a fun park which provide entertainment for all.

Held over a three-week period, Festival Cairns features a packed programme of creative, cultural and sporting events. First held in 2002, it has quickly established itself as one of North Queensland's best-loved events. The city becomes the stage of fun and festivities with a mixture of small- and large-scale events taking place in various venues throughout Cairns. Events include food and wine exhibitions, live music, performances by guest artists and multicultural and community celebrations that showcase the region's diverse talents. It is also an opportunity to develop the region's creative and cultural industries through workshops, forums and industry development seminars.

This festival brightens up the main streets of Cairns with local and international buskers vying for the main prize.
