Hotels in Calgary
Downtown Calgary has no shortage of 4- and 5-star hotels, thanks to a healthy influx of business travellers. While the big chains are well established, boutique hotels have begun to spring up, adding more individuality to the hotel scene. Prices are usually lower at weekends. Beyond Downtown, there are plenty of cheap chain motels and a good number of reasonably priced B&Bs.
The Calgary hotels below have been hand-picked by our guide author and are grouped into three pricing categories:
Luxury (over C$200)
Moderate (C$100 to C$200)
Cheap (up to C$100)
These Calgary hotel prices are per double room per night, exclusive of tax, and breakfast is not included, unless otherwise specified.
Hotel Arts
Setting foot in Hotel Arts on a hot day is like arriving at a Miami beach party, with the cool and the beautiful draping themselves, cocktails in hand, by the outdoor pool. Calgary's chic, sexy and independently owned designer hotel is ideally located within walking distance of all downtown venues. There are 12 floors of luxury rooms, with stunning skyline views, pillow-top mattresses and 42-inch plasma screens. Raw Bar serves Pacific Rim-inspired cuisine and sublime breakfast pancakes.
Hotel Le Germain
Calgary’s newest boutique hotel opened in 2010 bang in the heart of Downtown opposite the Calgary Tower. It’s just one component of a cutting-edge development - a wood-grain-clad hotel and gleaming, glass office tower linked by swanky penthouse apartments. The 143 rooms are thoroughly 21st century: smart, comfortable and stylish, kitted out with Frette linens, goose-down duvets, free Wi-Fi, 42-inch TVs, comfy purple armchairs and rainforest showers, the idea being you’ll feel totally at home (a luxurious home that is).

The rooms are individually decorated, and feature plasma TVs and iPod speakers, fridge with personal wine cellar, bathrobes and slippers, and free Wi-Fi. Executive suites have gas fireplaces, jetted tubs, and balconies or patios. The Chef's Table restaurant features grain-fed, fresh, organic food.

Cadberry’s B&B
Named after a pet rabbit, this B&B is located in northwest Calgary, just minutes from both the Trans-Canada Highway and the Crowfoot light rail station. The room price includes a continental or hot breakfast with home-baked treats.
Econo Lodge Inn & Suites University
