Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport Guide (YUL)
One of Canada’s busiest airports and the largest in Quebec, Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is located a short distance from central Montreal. A new direct rail link connecting Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport with central Montreal is planned to open for service by 2015. Additionally, the international area of the terminal (Concourse B) is due for redevelopment by 2016.
Information desks are located on both the arrivals and departures levels. Courtesy telephones are situated throughout the airport and self-service information points are also dotted around the terminal building.
Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is situated off the east-west Highway 20, but can also be reached from Montreal directly along the Côte-de-Liesse Highway 520.
Public Transport
Rail: A free minibus service links the airport with Dorval station 2km (1.2 miles) away, from where VIA Rail (tel: (514) 989 2626; www.viarail.ca) operates services along the Ottawa-Montréal, Québec City-Montréal and Toronto-Montréal routes.
Bus: Société de Transport de Montréal (tel: (514) 786 4636; www.stm.info) offers a 24-hour express service (bus 747) between Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and central Montreal (journey time: 35 minutes; fare: C$8). Tickets can be purchased at the ICE currency exchange counter in International Arrivals. In addition, STM bus 204 operates between the airport and the Dorval transport terminus.
Shuttle: Shuttle services are available to destinations further afield, including Quebec City and Ottawa.
Taxi: Taxis and limousines (tel: (514) 394 7377) are readily available outside the terminal on the Arrivals level, with a set fare (C$40) to the city centre – metered fares are available to other destinations.
Terminal facilities
ATMs and bureaux de change are available throughout the terminal.
There is a post office and public telephones in the terminal. Free wireless internet access is available throughout Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, and access is also offered at several internet kiosks.
Bars, restaurants and cafés are available in the Departures and Arrivals levels and in the jetties.
Duty-free and various other shops are available on the Departures level and in the jetties.
There are no left-luggage lockers at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, but a cloakroom (tel: (514) 633 2076) is located in Arrivals. The lost and found office (tel: (514) 633 2077) is also located in the arrivals area. If an item has been lost on a plane, the airline in question should be contacted. Luggage trolleys are available free of charge and porters are also available (tel: (514) 636 8320).
Other facilities at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport include a multifaith prayer room and a shoeshine service. A breastfeeding room is located on the second floor of the public area; there are also children’s games available in the waiting room on the same floor. The airport patrol staff are trained in first aid and can be reached by pressing the emergency button on all public phones in the terminal.
Airport facilities
There are no conference facilities within the airport terminal, although there are VIP lounges that are equipped with fax machines and computer terminals. These include the TD First Class Lounge in International Departures A photocopy service is offered at the main foreign exchange office located in Departures. Extensive meeting and events facilities are available at the Marriott Montreal Airport (tel: (514) 636 6700; www.marriott.com) attached to the US Departures section of the terminal, and at a number of other nearby hotels.
Parking for disabled travellers is provided in the short-term parking lots. Disabled drivers who need long-term parking can park in the ProxiParc multi-storey car park at economy rates (although the full price must be paid upon exiting, whereupon the driver will then be reimbursed the difference). The shuttle bus from the EconoParc area is not suitable for wheelchair users. Lifts connect all levels of the airport and text telephones are available throughout the terminal. Wheelchairs are available; passengers should contact their airline in advance.
There are short- and long-term parking facilities at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. The multi-level ExpressPark area offers short-term rates immediately opposite the terminal building. The adjacent ProxiPark also offers short-term parking, as well as long-term options, and is within a short walk from the terminal. The InterPark and EconoParc areas provide long-term rates, and the latter is linked to the terminal by a shuttle bus service that departs every 15 minutes. Additionally, HotelPark offers 250 heated spaces beneath the Marriott Hotel. Valet parking (tel: (514) 633 3440) is also available, immediately outside the terminal building.
Car hire is available on-site from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty, with offices situated on the ground level of the ExpressPark multi-story car park outside Arrivals.
Airport hotels
A five-minute drive or shuttle bus journey from Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, the Holiday Inn Express Montréal Airport has an on-site business centre, parking and fitness facilities.
