His Majesty's Theatre, Rosemount Viaduct (tel: 0845 270 8200 or (01224) 641122 (tickets); www.hmtaberdeen.com) has been Aberdeen's main theatre venue since 1906. It also stages opera and ballet. Film: For mainstream film releases head to the Cineworld (tel: 0871 200 2000; www.cineworld.co.uk) multi-screen cinema complex on the beachfront Esplanade. The city also has a great art house cinema in the Belmont Picture House, 49 Belmont Street (tel: (01224) 343 534; www.picturehouses.co.uk) showing the best from the alternative scene.
