Stockholm presently offers 13,000 hotel rooms, and there are plans for several more hotels. The most spectacular project is the new building at Norra Bantorget, near Stockholm's Central Station, where the Clarion Hotel Sign opened in February 2008.

Sales tax at 12% is automatically added to the bill. Tipping of porters is common, although tipping for room service is not expected.

Prices in Stockholm go down by as much as 50% in summer and at the weekend in winter, so it is always worth checking whether a hotel has a special offer on.

The hotels below have been grouped into four different pricing categories:
$$$$ (over Skr2,400)
$$$ (Skr1,800 to Skr2,400)
$$ (Skr1,200 to Skr1,800)
$ (up to Skr1,200)
The prices quoted are the lowest standard rates for a double room in winter, including sales tax.
