Bars: Caffè Filippini, piazza Erbe 26, is a grand place for an aperitif or a coffee. Younger and rather more modern, M27 Caffè, via Mazzini 27A, is a hip cocktail bar with atmosphere. Another nice bar and restaurant that also draws a young crowd is the friendly and relaxed Carro Armato, vicolo Gatto 2A, which has an excellent selection of wines. For beer lovers, the spacious Taverna degli Scaligeri, via Sottoriva 24, is the place to go.

Clubs: The most famous club in Verona is the Alter Ego Club, via Torricelle 9 (website: www.alteregoclub.it), which is a hip disco-style night club in a lovely location in the Veronese hills. (The terrace provides great views) Discos in town include Eolo, stradone Provolo 24 and Dorian Gray, via Belobono 13D. Berfi's Club, via Lussemburgo 1 (website: www.berfis.com) is a disco, restaurant and live music venue rolled into one. A very different place is Caffè Bukowski, via Amanti 6, which has an alternative, slightly avant-garde atmosphere but is nonetheless great fun.

Live Music: Bars and cafes with regular live music in Verona include Cappa Café, piazzetta Bra Molinari 1A (website: www.cappacafe.it), Invidia, via San Vitale 19A, and veteran bar Ferro's, via Fiumicello 9, where there is live music and a lively atmosphere in weekends. Lucille Rock 'n' Roll House, via Salisburgo 10C (website: www.lucille.it) celebrates rock'n'roll music in the various forms and shapes it has taken since the 1950s and up until today.

Some of Verona's theatres are used for pop and rock concerts, among them Teatro Camploy, via Cantarane 32. One of the most exciting live venues, which also organises a variety of art and film events, is Interzona, Stazione Frigorifera Specializzata 10, ex Magazini Generali, via Santa Teresa 16 (website: www.izona.it)  which is located in a disused ex-refrigeration plant in the south of the city. The Arena, piazza Bra (website: www.arena.it) is the venue for big international rock and pop acts visiting Verona.
