As Doha is an Islamic city many locals do not drink alcohol, at least not officially. This is not to say the city is as dull as it is often made out to be by night, and alcohol is available for sale in hotels that are geared towards the needs of non-Muslim business people and tourists. The Ritz Carlton (website: www.ritzcarlton.com), PO Box 23400, is home to waterfront Admiral's Club, which is one of the liveliest spots in the city with a live DJ often in attendance. It is very popular with both visitors and expats. Shisha Diwan at the same hotel serves only non-alcoholic drinks, but the highlight is smoking one of the fruit flavoured water pipes, while Habanos (in the Ritz Carlton) keeps the cocktail and cigar crowd happy. Live music is also often on offer at the Sheraton Doha's Waterhole Bar and Nightclub (website: www.sheraton-doha.com), Al Corniche Street. Nightclubs are thin on the ground in Doha, but the Ramada Plaza Doha (website: www.ramada.com), Salwa Road C Ring Road, has the Qube, with its modern dance sounds. The Aussie Bar at the Rydges Plaza Hotel, Abu Firas Street, is a fun new addition to the local nightlife scene.
