It is very quiet with all the spacious rooms overlooking the garden, where breakfast and dinner are served in summer. The owner, Brigitte Lurton, comes from a big vine growering family, and can arrange private visits to cellars or dinner at the family château.

Out in the vineyards, a 20-minute drive from the city centre, is this magnificent hotel set in five different buildings, including a luxurious Asian boathouse and a stunning, very French estate house. The wine list is, of course, impressive, as are the two gourmet restaurants, but the hotel is equally famous for bathing clients in Merlot or wrapping them in vine leaves in the sumptuous Vinothérapie spa.
