The Grand Théâtre, place de la Comédie (tel: (05) 5600 8595; website: www.opera-bordeaux.com), has a busy and diverse performance schedule, and so does the Espace Culturel du Pin Galant, 34 avenue du Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny, in the suburb of Mérignac (tel: (05) 5697 8282; website: www.lepingalant.com).

Mégarama cinema, quai des Queyries (tel: (08) 9269 3317; website: www.megarama.fr), has 23 screens, and the Cinema Jean Vigo, 6 rue Franklin (tel: (05) 5644 3517), is the best for films in their original version.

Important classical concerts and other musical events take place at the huge Palais des Sports, 90/92 cours Alsace Lorraine (tel: (05) 5652 2340).
