Opera and ballet perform in the 19th-century theatre on Hviezdoslavovo namestie, while drama mostly takes place at the Pavol Orszagh Hviezdoslav Theatre, with a season running from September to June. The Slovak National Philharmonic (tel: (02) 5920 8233; website: www.filharm.sk) is internationally acclaimed, with most concerts taking place at Redoute, a former baroque granary claimed for the arts in 1913-1919.
