Antwerp has good motorway links with Brussels to the south, and to major Dutch cities in the north, as well as with the Channel port at Zeebrugge, where ferries from the UK arrive in Belgium.

The main Belgian automobile association is the Touring Club de Belgique (TCB) (tel: 070 344 777; website: www.touring.be).

Most coaches/long-distance buses arrive and depart from the station on Franklin Rooseveltplaats, a short distance northwest of Centraal station. Information is available from a kiosk in Centraal Station (see Getting Around). De Lijn (tel: (03) 218 1411; website: www.delijn.be) is the main operator.

Eurolines (tel: 0871 781 8181, in the UK; website: www.eurolines.com) operates a daily service from London Victoria coach station to Antwerp via the Dover-Calais ferry or the Le Shuttle train, stopping at Bruges and Ghent. The city can also be reached from around Europe on the Eurolines network, direct or via Brussels or Amsterdam.

Emergency breakdown service: Touring Club de Belgique (tel: (02) 286 3327).
