Cracow - Getting There By Rail

Polskie Koleje Panstwowe (PKP) (Polish Railways) (tel: (042) 19436; www.pkp.pl) operates clean and efficient trains on the Polish rail network of more than 27,000km of lines. The fastest are the InterCity (IC) and EuroCity (EC) trains. Tickets can be purchased at the station or through Orbis Travel offices, Rynek Glowny 41 (tel: (012) 619 2459; www.orbis.pl).

Krakow Dworzec Glowny (Crakow's Main Railway Station) (tel: (012) 624 5439) is located at plac Jana Nowaka-Jezioranskiego on the northeastern edge of the Old Town. The station has left-luggage facilities.

Rail services: EuroCity and InterCity trains arrive from Warsaw (journey time - 2 hours 45 minutes), Vienna (7 hours 30 minutes), Prague (9 hours 30 minutes), Berlin (8 hours 30 minutes) and Budapest (10 hours 30 minutes). Care should be taken on some night train routes, particularly the one to Prague, as thieves operate.
