Tours in Durban

A selection of city walking tour itineraries, led by qualified guides, is offered by the tourist board, departing from the Tourist Junction in Pine Street (tel: (031) 304 4934; website: www.durban.kzn.org.za).

There is a large number of operators offering a huge variety of different minibus and coach tour itineraries, all of which can be booked through one's accommodation establishment, which will advise on what is available.

Major operators include Tours South Africa (tel: (021) 701 1202; website: www.tourssouthafrica.co.za), which offers a wide range of half day and day tours in and around the city. The Tekweni City Explorer tour (tel: (086) 111 3915; website: www.tekweniecotours.co.za) is another good option, taking in the main city sights and concluding with a visit to a local township for a traditional Zulu meal served in a private house.

Dolphin and whale watching boat trips depart from the uShaka Seaworld attraction, operated by Ocean Safaris (tel: (084) 565 5328; website: www.airandoceansafaris.co.za).
