Exuberantly Moroccan in style, this is one of Casablanca's grandest of hotels. The 182 lavishly presented rooms and suites have all the mod cons - at a price. The international upscale Méridien branding acts as an assurance of quality, but you will need deep pockets, and if you do splash out, watch out for escalating add-on charges.

Dependable high-end international chain much favoured by the business community. This one boasts 253 bedrooms and suites, outdoor pool (summer only), gym, squash courts, sauna, hammam baths, three restaurants and the Casablanca nightclub, themed on Rick's Place from the 1942 Bogart/Bergman movie. Rooms are spacious, luxurious and air-conditioned. It is big and therefore slightly impersonal, but when you want service it is meticulous.

Edith Piaf once stayed in this 1922 Colonial time-warp that has been sympathetically refurbished to preserve its nostalgic ambience. The guestrooms are nicely furnished and there's a bar and restaurant plus nightly cabaret shows.
