Palma is easily accessible by road, thanks to Mallorca's highly developed road network. The island's three motorways all merge on Palma's Via Cintura (ring road): the Llevant motorway comes in from the west; the Ponent motorway from the east; and the central motorway from Inca and the northeast. It is easy to access all parts of Palma from the ring road. Driving in the city itself is relatively straightforward, with major sights clearly signposted. However, there are several one-way systems which can be confusing.

Emergency breakdown services: AGA Ayuda General del Automóvil (tel: (902) 232 423); Europ Assistance (tel: (902) 158 585); Real Automóvil Club de Espanya (RACE) (tel: (902) 300 505).

Transports de les Illes Balears (TIB) (tel: (971) 177 777; website: http://tib.caib.es/index.ca.htm) operates regular bus services linking Palma to most main towns and resorts on the island. The information centre at Palma de Mallorca bus station, Carrer Eusebio Estada (tel: (971) 177 777), can provide free route maps and timetables, or contact one of the island's tourist information offices for further information.
