Stavanger - Getting There By Rail

Stavanger Railway Station is located in the heart of the city centre. It is the last station on Sørlandsbanen (The Southern Railway), and to travel to Stavanger by train from Oslo, for instance, involves a ‘U' journey down to Kristiansand and the southernmost parts of Norway before heading north from there to Stavanger on the west coast. Trains between Stavanger and Kristiansand via Egersund are frequent. In addition there is a local network with train services to Sandnes and other stations in the region. There is no train connection from Stavanger northwards along the coast to Bergen. NSB (tel: 815 00 888; website: www.nsb.no) operates all trains.
