Thrill-seekers must experience dune-bashing in 4-wheelers in the Liwa Oasis on the edge of the legendary Rub Al Khali, where the spectacular sand dunes are among the tallest in the world and popular spectator sports include camel races, held at various desert sites during the winter months. Other places to see in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi include the numerous offshore islands and the lovely oasis city of Al Ain with its numerous archaeological sites. Al Ain was built around an important oasis, and it is known as the ‘garden city'.  Some of its archaeological artefacts are displayed in the acclaimed Al Ain Museum, housed in the equally famous Al Jahili Fort. The city also has some great children's attractions, such as the Al Ain Zoo and Aquarium, the largest zoo in the Middle East and the only aquarium in the world situated in a desert, and the Hili Fun City amusement park (website: www.hillifuncity.com), which has playgrounds, games arcades, a bowling alley, theatres and even an ice rink.
