Cultural performances are rare in Tripoli, and often not advertised. There are several cinemas in the downtown area, but the only films on offer are Arabic, Indian or dubbed Western action movies catering for young Libyan men. Occasionally there are theatre performances at the al-Kashef Theatre, Sharia Omar al-Muktar, but they are rarely advertised and in Arabic only. Several art galleries organise exhibitions by local artists, including Ghadames Art Gallery, Sharia First September, and Dar al-Founoun, Sharia Seventh November.
