Bars: Trintaeum Cafe Bar, Rua do Passeio Alegre 564 (website: www.trintaeum.com), is a bar and club located in the Foz district (by the mouth of the Douro River) and offers a cosy and friendly atmosphere, a huge dance floor and lots of great music courtesy of the many excellent DJs spinning the discs. Bazaar, Cais das Pedras, has great views over the river and a new concept of fusion between culture and leisure, opening during the day as a cafeteria with fashion and design stores and by night as a bar (website: www.bazaar.com.pt). Cafe Guarany, Avenida dos Aliados 85-89 (website: www.cafeguarany.com) is a restaurant and cafe with a more alternative and artistic vibe and is a good place for a slow drink or two. There are also plenty of bars and places to have a drink along the riverfront in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Clubs: Pitch Club, Rua de Passos Manuel 34-38 in the heart of Porto, has two floors and offers cool trendy design, great music and outstanding sound system (website: www.pitch-club.com). Plano B, Rua Cândido Reis, is a big complex that hosts exhibitions, rock concerts and electronic music, and also has a cool dancefloor (website: www.planobporto.com). Vogue, Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo 481, is a great place for dancing the night away. Live Music: Hot Five Jazz & Blues Club, 51 Largo do Actor Dias (tel: 967 543 980) is one of Porto's best jazz clubs, with great music and atmosphere. There are also concerts of jazz, blues and New Bossa every week at Serv'artes Café Concerto, Rua da Constituição 2105. Café Majestic, Rua Santa Catarina 112 (tel: 222 003 887; website: www.cafemajestic.com) also features live jazz music, and it is a nice venue for traditional jazz. Fado, while mainly a Lisbon music form, can also be heard in Porto. Restaurante Mal Cozinhada, 11 Rua do Outeirinho (tel: 222 081 319) is a well-established venue for live fado. For most kinds of live music, Casa da Musica, Avenida Da Boavista 604-610 (tel: 220 120 220; website: www.casadamusica.pt) is Porto’s top venue.
