Isle of Man Top Things To See & Do
• Visit other prime sites, including The House of Manannan in Peel, Peel Castle, Castle Rushen, Cregneash Village and the Tynwald Hill, site of the world’s longest continuously running parliament.
• See the world’s biggest working water wheel, at the now-disused Laxey lead mines.
• Hop on one or all of the island’s narrow-gauge railways (website: www.isleofman.com/gettingaround). The Steam Railway runs from Douglas to Port Erin. The Manx Electric Railway connects Douglas with Laxey.
• Catch the rack and pinion Snaefell Mountain Railway, which climbs 2,036 ft (620m) up the island’s central peak.
• Rattle along the seafront in one of Douglas' famous horse-drawn trams.
• Attend the world-famous summer TT (Tourist Trophy) motorcycle event (website: www.iomtt.com). Competitors from all over the world race around a special circuit on the island’s roads, and an atmosphere of celebration prevails.
• Enjoy other races and rallies through the summer, including: the Manx National Car Rally, the Manx International Car Rally, the International Hill Climb Championships and the Manx Classic (for vintage cars). The varied terrain adds to the challenge and excitement.
• Enjoy the great outdoors by taking advantage of the island's good sailing and walking.
• Chomp on one of Man's famous kippers (smoked herring), to which Peel’s Moore’s Museum (website: www.isleofman.com/whattodo/shopping/moores) is dedicated.
