Most visits to Martinique are trouble-free but you should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate international terrorist attacks, which could be against civilian targets, including places frequented by foreigners.

The hurricane season in Martinique normally runs from June to November. Occasional earth tremors also occur. A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter Scale occurred off the northwest coast of Martinique on 29 November. A small number of people were injured and some limited damage to the island's infrastructure occurred.
