Main Airports

Albuquerque International Airport (ABQ) (website: www.cabq.gov/airport) is located 6km (4 miles) southeast of the city centre. To/from the airport: Taxis, limousines and shuttle buses are available to Albuquerque and Santa Fe (journey time - 1 hour) and regional buses serve other destinations in the state. Facilities: ATMs, car hire and shops.

El Paso Airport (ELP) (website: www.elpasointernationalairport.com) also serves as a gateway into southern New Mexico - see the Texas section.

Getting There by Rail

Amtrak (tel: 1 800 872 7245, in the USA only; website: www.amtrak.com) serves New Mexico on two routes: the 'Southwest Chief', connecting Chicago to Los Angeles, and the 'Sunset Limited', connecting Orlando and New Orleans to Los Angeles.

Getting There by Road

The main bus companies operating in New Mexico are TNM&O (tel: 1 866 737 8666, in the USA only; website: www.tnmo.com) and Greyhound (tel: 1 800 231 2222, in the USA only; website: www.greyhound.com). There are buses to Santa Fe and Taos from the bus terminal in Albuquerque, 300 Second Street SW.

Approximate bus journey times:
From Albuquerque to Santa Fe is 1 hour 15 minutes, to Phoenix is 9 hours, and to Los Angeles is 18 hours.

Getting Around Towns and Cities

In Albuquerque, most buses run Mon-Sat 0600-1800. Santa Fe has seven routes running throughout the city.
