International-standard hotels are found in Darwin, Alice Springs and Uluru (Ayers Rock), and a good standard of hotel and motel accommodation can be found in all the major tourist areas and centres of population.

Lodges and budget motels are available in some of the remote areas. This is usually basic but quite adequate accommodation with lodges often having camping facilities, cabins and/or simple rooms.

Caravanning is popular and so is camping given the magnificent wilderness, climate and lack of infrastructure in the Northern Territory. Ensure you are well prepared before venturing off the beaten track. A number of companies can arrange camper van hire, with a range of fully equipped vehicles.
