Passport valid for at least six months from date of departure from The Bahamas required by all nationals referred to in chart above except:
(a) 1. nationals of Canada, provided holding a birth certificate or a valid photo ID;
(b) 2. nationals of the USA. However, conditions vary and nationals may wish to enquire what specific documents need to be submitted.

Note: As of 23 January 2007 all persons, including US citizens, travelling by air between the USA and Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport or other approved document when entering or re-entering the USA. Similar requirements for those travelling by land or sea will be introduced as early as 1 January 2008. Not required by nationals referred to in the chart above except the following:
(a) 3. nationals of Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden for visits of over three months; nationals of Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and the UK for stays of over eight months;
(b) 4. nationals of the USA for stays of over eight months.

Single-entry: £30; Multiple-entry: £40 (three to six months); £50 (six to 12 months). Payable by cash only.

Usually three months. Applications for extension should be made to the Director of Immigration.

Dependent on nationality of applicant, a minimum of 48 hours, maximum of six weeks. Applications made by post and from some nationals may take longer to process. Applicants are advised to make their applications at least six weeks before their departure date to the Bahamas. Enquire at the consulate or embassy for further details.
