Accommodation Information

There is a wide range of accommodation available in Scotland, comprising guest houses, bed & breakfasts, hotels, international resort hotels, self-catering, campsites, serviced apartments, lodges, inns, restaurants with rooms and campus accommodation. More than 1,000 hotels, guest houses and bed & breakfasts are members of the 'Walkers Welcome' initiative and make special efforts to meet the needs of walkers. Over 1,000 accommodation providers are members of the cyclist-friendly 'Cyclists Welcome' scheme.

Grading: VisitScotland, VisitBritain, Visit Wales, the AA and RAC have recently agreed common standards for accommodation quality assessment. Accommodation is classified using a star rating system of 1 to 5 stars.

VisitScotland (see Contact Addresses) publishes a series of accommodation guides covering hotels and guest houses, bed & breakfast, self-catering and camping and caravanning, for which there is a charge, plus postage and packing.
