Balearic Islands Accommodation

Hotels

Establishments of all kinds and categories exist in the Balearics. The vast majority of visitors stay in 3- and 4-star package hotels but many more rent out chalets, apartments and bungalows. Hotels and apartments in the large resorts tend to be block-booked by package tour operators. On Menorca developments are low rise and smaller scale, though still dominated by tour operators. There are a growing number of luxury escapes inland on Mallorca and Ibiza, both in the self-catering and hotel sectors. All islands also offer agroturismo/turismo rural (rural tourism) accommodation, typically staying in renovated older properties set in rural locations.

Camping/Caravanning

The only official campsite in the Balearic Islands is on Menorca at Es Pinaret, near Ciutadella. In Ibiza there are also campsites at Cala Martina and Es Canar near Santa Eulalia. On Mallorca there are sites at San Pedro, near Artá and at Platja de Muro.

Youth Hostels

The Spanish Youth Hostel Network (REAJ) offer three youth hostels: in Palma and Alcudia on Mallorca, and in Ciutadella on Menorca.
