Texas Climate

Due to its size, there are considerable variations in Texas' climate. The Gulf Coast experiences a maritime climate, whereas inland it's more continental, drier in the west, and wetter along the eastern border with Louisiana. Dallas experiences hot summers with higher humidity and thunderstorms; west and southwest Texas is hot and dry. Average temperature: 34 to 36ºC (93 to 96ºF) during summer; 12 to 14ºC (54 to 57ºF) during winter; and 19 to 22ºC (66 to 72ºF) for coastal winter temperatures. Hurricanes and tornados are not uncommon.

Required Clothing

Lightweights are advised throughout the year, with warmer clothes for the winter.
