Getting There by Air
There are international flights to Perth from Europe and Asia. International airlines serving Perth include Air New Zealand, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, South Africa Airlines, Thai Airways International and United Airlines.
There are internal flights from all state capitals. Domestic carriers include Airnorth (website: www.airnorth.com.au), Northwest Regional Airlines (website: www.northwestregional.com.au), Qantas (website: www.qantas.com.au), Skywest (within Western Australia only) (website: www.skywest.com.au) and Virgin Blue (website: www.virginblue.com.au).

Perth International Airport (PER) (website: www.perthairport.net.au) is 12km (7 miles) from the city (journey time - 25 minutes). To/from the airport: An airport shuttle and public bus service run into the city. Facilities: ATMs, bureau de change, bars, restaurants, shopping, Internet access, car hire, left luggage and play area.

Getting There by Water
Main ports: Port of Fremantle (website: www.fremantleports.com.au) serves Perth. The port is 19km (11 miles) from Perth.
Getting There by Rail
Western Australia is served by Transwa rail service (tel: (8) 9326 2600; website: www.transwa.wa.gov.au). The Indian Pacific service runs from Perth to Sydney twice a week and is a three-day trip with beautiful scenery to admire as you travel.
Getting There by Road
The highway network of Western Australia is almost entirely concentrated in the coastal areas. The main exception is the Great Northern Highway which runs from Perth to Port Headland on the northwest coast. Along the south coast is the Eyre Highway, which runs into South Australia. The Brand/Northwest Coastal Highway runs from Perth around the west coast to Kimberley.
The journey between Perth and Sydney takes at least three days. Driving maps can be purchased via the Western Australian Tourism Commission (see Contact Addresses). There is no longer a coach service to Adelaide - travellers need to go via Broome and Darwin to head to the eastern states. Integrity Coach Lines (tel: (8) 9226 1339; website: www.integritycoachlines.com.au) and South West Coachlines (tel: (8) 9324 2333; website: www.southwestcoachlines.com.au) run coach services throughout the southern part of Western Australia and as far north as Port Hedland.

Local trains run from Perth to Armadale, Midland, Fremantle and Joondalup. A zonal fare structure covers all transport modes; tickets issued on one mode are valid for transfer to any of the others (bus, rail and ferry). Perth has a central Free Transit Zone (identified by: FTZ) where any bus and train journeys are free. A free CAT (Central Area Transit) Bus service circles the city centres of Perth, Joondalup and Fremantle Monday to Saturday.
