Getting There by Air

The national airline is Yemen Airways (Yemenia) (IY) (website: www.yemenia.com).

Approximate Flight Times

From London to Sana’a or Aden is 8 hours.

Main Airports

Sana’a (SAH) (El-Rahaba) is 13km (8 miles) north of the city (journey time – 30 minutes). To/from the airport: Transport to the city centre is by taxi. Facilities: Bank/bureau de change, duty-free shop, baggage facilities, restaurants and car hire.

Taiz (TAI) (al-Janad) is 4km (2.5 miles) from the city (journey time – 10 minutes). To/from the airport: Taxis, buses and car hire are available.

Hodaidah (HOD) is 8km (5 miles) from the city. To/from the airport: Taxis, buses and car hire are available.

Aden (ADE) (Khormaksar) is 11km (7 miles) from the city (journey time – 20 minutes). To/from the airport: Limited bus and taxi services available.

Getting There by Water

Main ports: Aden (website: www.portofaden.com), Hodeida, Mocha, Mukalla and Nashton.

Cargo vessels with passenger berths call at Hodeida.

Getting There by Road

Driving to Yemen is not recommended but the main border crossing points are Haradh and Al Bura' in the North from Saudi Arabia and Hadnut in the East from Oman.
