• Wander the ancient remains of Ulpiana, once one of the most beautiful cities of the Illyrian Dardania, founded in the second century during the rule of Emperor Trajan. Finds from the site are exhibited at the Museum of History of Kosovo in Pristina.
• Hop on a bus to Prizren, a historically important city at the foot of the Sharri Mountains. It's home to several beautiful mosques, Turkish baths and an old fortress.
• Visit the small city of Peja, nestled close to imposing mountains, a picturesque gorge and straddling the Bistrica River. Ancestral home of the Mediaeval Serbian Orthodox Church, it was heavily damaged by recent conflicts but has rebounded and makes an interesting trip.
• Climb Kosovo's highest peak. Daravica is 2,656m (8,714ft) high and is located in southwest Kosovo, alongside Montenegro and Albania.
• Use the town of Gjilani as a base to explore the Karadaku and Zhegoci Mountains, and Pogragja Fortress.
