Santa Cruz Carnival
The annual Santa Cruz Carnival (www.carnavaltenerife.es) is considered second only to Rio de Janeiro by the locals. Tenerife's biggest fiesta sees hundreds of thousands of people take to the capital's streets in February.

Beaches

There is a plethora of beautiful sandy beaches on the southern shores. Many have imported golden grains but a few still have the original black volcanic sand.

Mercedes
Mountains
The pine-scented hills of the Mercedes Mountains are the perfect spot for some hill-walking.The pines and palms of Tenerife's northern tip provide welcome relief from the stark landscape of the south.

Siam
Park
Siam Park is one of Europe's biggest water parks (www.siampark.net). This Thai-inspired aquatic land has some of the highest, fastest and longest water rides in the world.

Parasailing

A tandem parasail flight gives a great birds-eye view of the island (www.parapentetf.com). Tenerife has over 40 launch sites and many clubs that offer courses.

Mount Teide cable car
Vistors can glide to the top of the world's third largest volcano by cable car (www.telefericoteide.com). The views from the top of Mount Teide are astounding; on a clear day you can see several of the other islands.
