Canada Travel Advice

Human cases of swine influenza have been reported in certain areas of Canada. Travellers should check for updates on the number of cases and their location through the 'Public Health Agency of Canada' at www.phac-aspc.gc.ca. In addition, they should monitor local media reports for any developments.

Most visits to Canada are trouble-free but you should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate international terrorist attacks, which could be against civilian targets, including places frequented by foreigners. The Canadian authorities have carried out a number of arrests as a result of investigations into terrorist networks.

Tornadoes can occur almost anywhere in Canada, normally from May to September.

The plant known as Qhat (Khat) is illegal in Canada. Smugglers are regularly caught and face a term of imprisonment.
