Getting There by Air

Aurigny Air Services (GR) (website: www.aurigny.com) offers flights from Guernsey (flight time – 15 minutes) and Southampton (flight time – 45 minutes). Blue Islands (website: www.blueislands.com) flies between Alderney and Southampton, Bournemouth, Brighton, Jersey, Guernsey and Paris Beauvais.

Main Airports

Alderney Airport (ACI) (website: www.flyalderney.com/airport.html) is famous for its sundial outside the building and its 'knit-while-you-wait' box in the departure lounge, which invites passengers to help knit squares towards making blankets to send to poverty-stricken countries. To/from the airport: Travellers can walk the short distance from the airport to the island's capital of St Anne or hail a taxi. Facilities: Buffet, duty-free shop, parking and taxis (from rank adjacent to terminal building).

Getting There by Water

There is a regular passenger ferry service from Normandy (journey time - 45 minutes) and Guernsey (journey time - 1 hour) to Alderney, provided by Manche Iles Express (tel: (01481) 822 881; website: www.manche-iles-express.com). The Lady Maris ferry travels between Alderney and Cherbourg throughout the year (tel: 0778 110 1970 or (01481) 823 532). HD Ferries link Alderney with Guernsey, and Cherbourg in France (website: www.hd.ferries.org). There are also several charter boats.
